Bernedoodles For Sale in Utah

My name is Shelly Skuza, and I own Oodles of Bernedoodles, a small, in-home Bernedoodle breeding program located in Utah County, Utah. I specialize in mini and medium Bernedoodles, intentionally pairing dogs to produce healthy, well-adjusted puppies in a wide variety of colors and coat types.

I believe all sizes and colors of Bernedoodles are beautiful, and my goal is to thoughtfully match each litter to families looking for a specific size, temperament, or aesthetic, without compromising health or care.

A Small Intentional Breeding Program

I purposely keep my program small so I can give individual attention to every dog and every litter. I only produce a few litters per year, and I do not operate a large kennel or keep dozens of dogs on site.

All of my breeding dogs are my personal family dogs, raised and living in my home. This approach allows me to closely monitor health, temperament, and development, and helps ensure puppies are raised in a calm, social environment.

About Bernedoodles & Generations

Bernedoodles are not a purebred dog. They are a mix of Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle. Depending on the parents, Bernedoodles can have different generation labels, such as:

  • F1 (50% Bernese / 50% Poodle)

  • F1B (75% Poodle / 25% Bernese)

  • F1BB (87.5% Poodle / 12.5% Bernese)

  • F2 or Multigen (Bernedoodle × Bernedoodle)

These labels can sometimes be confusing, especially because multigenerational Bernedoodles can still resemble earlier generations in coat, size, or temperament. Rather than focusing only on labels, I focus on health testing, pairing compatibility, and realistic expectations for each litter.

Bernedoodle Sizes We Breed

Bernese Mountain Dogs are large dogs, typically weighing 80–100 lbs. Poodles, however, come in several sizes, which allows Bernedoodles to range widely in adult size.

The size of the Poodle parent plays the biggest role in determining the size of the puppies. By using different-sized studs, I intentionally produce mini or medium Bernedoodles.

My current moms include:

  • Two mini Bernedoodles (~30 lbs)

  • One mini/medium Bernedoodle (~45 lbs)

Typical size ranges:

  • Mini Bernedoodles: ~20–40 lbs

  • Medium Bernedoodles: ~40–60 lbs

  • Standard Bernedoodles: 60+ lbs (not currently bred in my program)

Because Bernedoodles are a mixed breed, adult size is always an estimate, not a guarantee, but pairing selection helps narrow expectations.

Coat Types & Colors

I love producing colorful, diverse litters. You can view examples from past litters on my Coat Colors page.

Colors I have produced include:

  • Black Tri-Color

  • Brown (Chocolate) Tri-Color

  • Blue Merle

  • Chocolate Merle

  • Black & White

  • Red & White

  • Golden

  • Saddle Pattern

  • Merle Tri-Color

I hope to produce sable and brindle coats in the future as my program continues to evolve.

Coat Texture & Furnishings

My moms all have wavy, furnished coats, and I select studs with similar coat genetics. Puppies may mature with wavy or curly coats, depending on the pairing.

All puppies from my program are furnished, meaning they have the signature Bernedoodle facial hair - eyebrows, beards, and scruffy faces. The furnishing gene comes from the Poodle side and contributes to lower shedding.

Health Testing & Merle Genetics

I perform DNA testing on both parents and puppies, not just for health screening, but also for transparency. I want families to understand the genetics behind their puppy and any traits they may carry.

My moms carry the merle gene, which is why puppy DNA testing is especially important. Some puppies can carry merle without showing visible merle patterning, such as red or cryptic merles.

If a puppy is intended for future breeding, it’s critical to understand its genetics. Merle should never be bred to merle. One copy of the merle gene is safe (and beautiful), but two copies can result in serious health issues such as blindness or deafness.

Is a Bernedoodle Right for You?

Bernedoodles are wonderful family dogs, but they are not a perfect fit for every household.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Can be jumpy or overly enthusiastic

  • Known to counter-surf

  • Can experience separation anxiety

  • Prefer being around people or other dogs rather than alone

  • Require regular brushing and professional grooming

Because they do not shed like traditional dogs, their coats will continue to grow and can mat if not maintained.

Availability & Deposits

I no longer use a traditional waitlist model, as breeding outcomes can vary. Factors such as unsuccessful breedings or smaller-than-expected litters make waitlists unpredictable. This approach allows me to be transparent about availability and ensures families reserve puppies that are actually here.

Once puppies are born, they can be reserved with a $500 deposit, which is applied toward the total purchase price.
